The Road to Wittenberg

It's done at last - the book about the Summers family line starting with Thomas and Rosanna Summers, who lived in Kent Co, Delaware, in the first half of the 1700s, and ending with the John William and Verne (Crabtree) Summers family, who lived in Wittenberg, Missouri, in the first half of the 1900s. Actually, it doesn't really end with John and Verne, since the book continues a little way with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. With a few GG grandchildren thrown in for good measure.

A book on the Crabtrees, Lambs, and other families connected to Verne Crabtree, wife of John William Summers, is under way, but it may be quite a while before it is finished since I am returning to the Tapscotts of Fauquier County for my next book.

I'm pleased to say again "The Summers Book c'est finis."

But, since the Summers are more German than French, perhaps I should say "Es ist vollbracht." Actually, the Summers are English, but as we all know, the Anglo-Saxons were Germanic.  Besides, "Vollbracht" is a more striking word than "Finis."

At last!

  1. On page 89 you have Daniel Summers and Allie Rutter listed. You only have one of their children listed. They had many more than that. My grandmother Alice Elizabeth was their youngest child. I have almost all of their information.

    1. You are quite correct, Linda. The problem is that I never completed research on people that do not appear in the main portion of the book, but I still included them in the list at the end. I should have warned people that the list is very incomplete. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I am going to add a warning to the list. Bob
